Professional Learning Communities for 1-to-1: Teachers who are new to 1:1 instruction greatly benefit from creating a Professional Learning Community (PLC) of teachers from around the world who are also teaching in ubiquitous environments. In this session, Maureen will share ways in which you can use Twitter, Google Communities, and ISTE Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to begin creating a powerful community of practice.
Using Google Hangout in the Blended Classroom: Although teacher educators are encouraged to incorporate more social constructivist learning pedagogies into their teaching, often times learning within collaborative groups is impeded by the physical design of the classroom, ridged course scheduling, and the busy lives of students. In EdTe 350, Curricular Integration of Technology, students are encouraged to work in collaborative groups outside of the classroom by incorporating Google Hangouts, a free social media video conferencing tool that is part of the Google+ Environment. Using Google Hangout video calls and other tools, students are able to work productively with their fellow classmates and their instructor from anywhere they can connect to the Internet.
