The CTE has provided support to the Ball State Indianapolis Center (Downtown) for over four years. Via professional development programs, technology exhibits, contracts, and partnered programs, the CTE and the “Indy Center” have enjoyed a unique collaboration that brings Ball State research and outreach to the hub of Indiana’s downtown.
One area of support has been the Promethean ActivBoard that was provided by the CTE’s Collaboration with the Center for Information and Communication Sciences (CICS) and Channel One. The large, mobile, interactive whiteboard has anchored many exhibit, reception, and workshop in the reception area of the first floor Indy Center “storefront”.
The CTE’s role in this effort was acquisition and support of the ActivBoard, training of Indy Center faculty, strategic planning for its use with training and outreach, and leveraging it as the centerpiece of the CTE Indy Showcase Suite.
Most recently, the CTE Showcase suite has supported key exhibits in the Indy Center, including:
- The Kurt Vonnegut Exhibit (2014)
- The Primacy of Place Community Awards Program (2013)
- SuperBowl Outreach Events (2012)
The ActivBoard is now on loan to some kindergartners in one of Ball State’s partner schools, where it is no doubt in good hands…literally!
