An article was recently written regarding social media usage with teenagers who have disabilities. The article mentions the positive aspects of the use of social media. An example includes talking with one another, especially for students who don’t make eye contact with others when interacting in person. The use of social media also leaves a few risky possibilities as well. A number of rules or expectations were developed that teachers and parents can incorporate with their children prior to using the internet. These include: creating a list of clear and concise rules, developing a structured amount of time that can be spent online, remaining consistent, and monitor the accounts of the child.
