Indiana Scraps ISTEP but will its replacement face a political test?
On March 22nd 2016, Mike Pence signed a bill that eliminated the controversial ISTEP assessment. With the newly formed academic standards, Indiana citizens are questioning how much the state education officials can change the assessment. They must stick to the standards, so will there be much of a difference between the ISTEP and the forthcoming assessment?
Others are questioning the fiscal consequences of creating a new assessment. Some officials suggest using a test that is already made to save money and compare Indiana students to those in other states across the country. The education officials are debating how to best serve the students, but there is plenty to discuss. Will they come to an agreement that supports everyone involved in education?
