{"id":1036,"date":"2016-01-30T22:09:48","date_gmt":"2016-01-31T03:09:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/?p=1036"},"modified":"2016-04-19T10:40:15","modified_gmt":"2016-04-19T14:40:15","slug":"stoichiometry-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/2016\/01\/30\/stoichiometry-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Stoichiometry Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A requirement of the LAMP project was to have students complete a project related to the unit of study. \u00a0My LAMP project was completed during the stoichiometry unit, so the project I assigned involved students profiling a kind of chemical reaction of interest to them, and then performing a 5 gram mole to mole stoichiometry calculation using\u00a0a balanced reaction involving that reaction. \u00a0The end product students produced\u00a0was either a\u00a0\u00a0poster or a brochure describing their reaction, with an illustration and the required calculations outlined. \u00a0The results were fantastic:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1124\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1124\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/02\/IMG_0836.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1124\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1124 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/02\/IMG_0836-e1460316162724-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Bulletin board project results. \" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/02\/IMG_0836-e1460316162724-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/02\/IMG_0836-e1460316162724-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/akhouck\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2016\/02\/IMG_0836-e1460316162724.jpg 1224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bulletin board project results.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!--more-->Creative application of content is asked for in\u00a0InTASC 5 and this project did just that. \u00a0I feel that this project allowed for an expression of creativity that isn&#8217;t usually found in a science classroom. \u00a0My goal was for students\u00a0to find a real life example of a stoichiometry reaction that interested them so that the had buy in for the project. \u00a0The project was graded using a rubric that I generated, aligning with InTASC 6&#8217;s assessment component.<\/p>\n<p>HLP 13 is best applied to this assignment as this was a way to assess student learning in relation to stoichiometric calculations. \u00a0 I like that this unit had a project aligned with it as another means of assessment and I want to do more activities similar to this in the future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A requirement of the LAMP project was to have students complete a project related to the unit of study. \u00a0My LAMP project was completed during the stoichiometry unit, so the &hellip;
