In order to maintain speedy performance of the Best Practices Showcase server, we need to have limits on the size of your file uploads. Right now, that limit is 8 MB per file for online submissions. It’s possible for some Powerpoint and other files with lots of graphics to exceed that limit. If you think you have one or more files bigger than 8MB, don’t worry! We’ll work with you to get your files to us so they can be published. But let’s start with…
How can I check the size of my file?
- On a Mac, highlight the file, right click, and select “Get Info”. In that pop-up page, it will tell you the size of the file in bytes and megabytes (MB).
- On a PC [more information forthcoming]
If it’s over 8 MB, what should I do?
If it’s over 8 MB, don’t attach it to your submission. Instead, put a note in the final Comments field. We will contact you to make other arrangements to submit your files. No worries.
What if I try to upload it anyway?
If you try a file that is too big, the spinning progress wheel to the right of the submit button will spin and spin and spin.
