{"id":1218,"date":"2015-03-17T14:44:42","date_gmt":"2015-03-17T18:44:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/bestpractices\/?p=1218"},"modified":"2015-03-17T14:44:42","modified_gmt":"2015-03-17T18:44:42","slug":"interactive-science-notebooks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/espace.bsu.edu\/bestpractices\/interactive-science-notebooks\/","title":{"rendered":"Interactive Science Notebooks"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Use of Interactive Science Notebooks Enhance Students Organizational Skills<\/h3>\n<p>A study source to enable you to be a creative, independent thinker and learner!<\/p>\n<p>Your Interactive Science Notebook (INB) will increase your understanding of science by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Using writing as a process for discovery and synthesis of inquiry;<\/li>\n<li>Modeling many enduring functions of scientists- recording information, data, and experimental diagrams;<\/li>\n<li>Improving your ability to organize ideas and information;<\/li>\n<li>Providing a study reference for each unit, a resource to consult for review before standardized tests, and guide you as you make your way to other science content classrooms;<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrating to yourself and your teachers your developing organizational skills, understanding of science concepts and ability to express thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Implementation of your INB:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Notebooks should be kept in a spiral notebook, composition book or three-ringer binder. Bring to class every day. It will be damaging to your grade if you forget it, or lose it.<\/li>\n<li>Pages should be numbered consecutively; each page titled and dated.<\/li>\n<li>All work (input and output, graded and non-graded) should be in your INB<\/li>\n<li>A table of contents will be kept in the front of the INB and should be updated continuously.
