On October 30, 2013 and November 6, 2013 groups of 5th graders took part in an interactive learning session in the iStudio. The respective hours were packed with activities for the students. The CTE team hosting the event was comprised of Dr. Stuve, Madison, Jordan and Athena.
One station in the iStudio was setup with clickers that tallied responses to rounds of Halloween Jeopardy on an interactive whiteboard. At another station a group of college mentors from Ball State guided elementary school students in an after school program, helping them record their favorite Halloween story using iPads.
The day began with students learning about the mission of the CTE: A university resource for research-based outreach services to schools and communities. Then, the day segued into answering critical questions about the role of technology. How is technology used to make things? How do individuals use technology for creative expression? How are computers used to ask questions? How is technology used to communicate with others?
