Maureen Sanders-Brunner is a former school library media specialist who worked in both elementary and high schools. She is currently a doctoral teaching fellow in the Educational Studies department and teaches undergraduate educational technology classes.<\/p>\n

Professional Learning Communities for 1-to-1:<\/strong> Teachers who are new to 1:1 instruction greatly benefit from creating a Professional Learning Community (PLC) of teachers from around the world who are also teaching in ubiquitous environments. \u00a0In this session, Maureen will share ways in which you can use Twitter, Google Communities, and ISTE Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to begin creating a powerful community of practice.<\/p>\n Using Google Hangout in the Blended Classroom<\/strong>: Although teacher educators are encouraged to incorporate more social constructivist learning pedagogies into their teaching, often times learning within collaborative groups is impeded by the physical design of the classroom, ridged course scheduling, and the busy lives of students. In EdTe 350, Curricular Integration of Technology, students are encouraged to work in collaborative groups outside of the classroom by incorporating Google Hangouts, a free social media video conferencing tool that is part of the Google+ Environment. \u00a0Using Google Hangout video calls and other tools, students are able to work productively with their fellow classmates and their instructor from anywhere they can connect to the Internet.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Melissa Travis is a Technology Integration Specialist (TIS) with Five-Star Technology Solutions at Madison Grant United School Corporation in Fairmount. \u00a0Melissa received her undergraduate degree from Ball State University in 2012 \u00a0and is currently working on her Master’s in Curriculum and Educational Technology. \u00a0While at Ball State she worked for the Center of Technology in Education in her undergraduate as well as a graduate student working with faculty, students and teachers training on how to use different types of technology. She is now working with staff on helping them transition to a 1:1 environment.<\/p>\n Presentations:<\/p>\n Evolution of 1:1 at a Rural School District: <\/strong>Melissa Travis will discuss the 1:1 evolution in Madison Grant Unified School District (MGUSD) involving the distribution of 1,500 iPad minis to k-12 students. She will also discuss beneficial apps that are being used on a regular basis in the school system.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amy Rebancos is the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB MYP) science teacher at Colegio Franklin Delano Roosevelt, The American School of Lima, an independent international school based in Peru.
