Reflection 2016:

The teacher engages in continuous professional development. Teachers will use this ongoing learning experience in order to evaluate their teaching, the effects of their teaching on their students, and will then adapt their teaching to meet the needs of each individual student.

In the Spring of 2015, I had a reflection that was all about our ability to make something better. We discussed that in order to understand whether or not something needs to be changed, is done through the process of trial and error. In the sense of professional development, I need to always look back on and see where the result led me, and then if necessary I change it. From the time I was in kindergarten to my senior year of high school, I attended a Catholic school where expectations (even with clothing) were high. The education that I received growing up, is a direct link to the person that I am today. As a teacher, I have that same influence, I can influence the way my students look at education, teachers, and the learning process. I want to be a positive influence on my students, to be a bright spot on someone education experience.

As a teacher, I have a really good idea of what I know my students are capable of doing; so you bet that I am going to push my students to that level I know they are capable of. In the past I know it annoyed some of my students, but I am okay with that being the case, because the reward is so great. For one of my classes I had to write a paper. I talk about students always learning and growing, and it is the same for me, as a teacher my learning never stops. Which is why, I have already started by going to lectures, reading books and magazines. I believe that in order to become the best teacher I can need to know policies, practices, research, and other reflections. The world is changing and my strength is that I am determined to change with it. Every year I want to partake in seminars, lectures, classes, and I want to read journals and books. In doing this I will continue to grow and become the best teacher I can be. My education does not stop just because I am the one who is educating others.
