This is a model for an artifact that is an attachment (say, a Powerpoint file or Word document). In this first paragraph should briefly introduce the reader to the artifact (e.g. what’s the assignment?), its origin (e.g. course and semester) and its general description. Include the read more tag as show below to delineate the “teaser” overview text that will display in blog page listings (e.g. the result of a category listing).
Below the “read more line”, you could add a little more detail to the posting, but typically the attached artifact itself will complete the job. Make sure that the artifact “tells its own story” sufficiently as you also implement any specific assignment requirements or requests of the instructor. Different assignments and different instructors may require variations on the method of representing an artifact in your portfolio. These are general recommendations. Anyhoo…
The rationale–that brief narrative that relates the artifact to the developmental frameworks (categories)–can be added next. Below, we show below the rationale text with a heading in shown and the entire chunk formatted as a quote (see the quote icon above) so as to visually delineate it from the rest of the post content.
Rationale
And here is the rationale…”this artifact supports my growth in relation to InTASC 6 because…”
Alignments
This is not a formal section in your artifact’s post but an action you need to do to make the BPM model work. It is perhaps the most important part of the model, because it enacts the relationships between the artifact and the developmental (and other) frameworks that define your development and/or showcase portfolio(s).
To the right, in the post’s dashboard’s categories area for this post, you would enter the aligned InTASC standards that you’ve described the rationale. Make sure to deselect “Uncategorized” as the default category. Use Tags (also on the right) to relate the artifact’s to other descriptors that you see fit to make sense of the artifact. Learn more about categories and tags in the BPM site.
The Attached Artifact
Now for the main thing to add to your post: The artifact itself as an attachment. Use the Add Media link above to upload an asset file (in this case, the artifact as a attachment). It will be displayed as a link. The pop-up editor will let you dress that link and its display text in many ways. Explore that later when you get more gumption.
PDF attachments will typically display in a new page. Wordpress (the foundation of the eSpace portfolio service) has PDF plugins that can display a PDF attachment as an embedded file with “page-turning” capabilities. Sound intriguing? contact the eSpace manager for more information on how to do this.
