The Research Design Studio is currently working with institutions, departments, faculty members, and students to design and implement relevant research. The following projects are currently in progress.
- School leadership and academic success- Research on the impact of school leadership qualities has led to a widespread study examining the roles of several aspects of individual and institutional leadership quantities and how those impact overall school success and thriving. Merging large dataset information on student achievement with fine-grained information on actual individual qualifications is promoting a next-step investigation into school success.
- Impact of program revisions- Working with faculty from one of the departments at BSU, the RDS support team has been helping navigate the evaluative study of how making significant instructional changes to a required program course is impacting the professional growth of their students. Support with IRB clearance, study materials, and statistical expertise are all provided in this study- that was envisioned and conceptualized by the home department faculty. A clear example of the broad spectrum serve opportunities available through RDS.
- Ongoing research of internal programs- Working with the college, the RDS team continues to collaborate on effective measurement tools, collection of data, and evaluation of programs.
- The impact of technology to support literacy- In an evaluative capacity, RDS is providing research design and statistical support for several school districts implementing a randomized control design study examining the literacy and language gains for students using an established technology support tool. The study also examines the differential impact of the program materials for students with limited english proficiency.
- Use of space to support learning – examining the impact of changing space on student perceptions, behaviors, and achievement as well as the level of interactions experienced among students and instructors in revised instructional settings is the focus of the program of study. Supporting innovative work at the university by providing strategies to more effectively document changes in the learning context is leading to new collaborations and evidence-based decision making at the university.
