Bringing museums and research to your practice and your classroom!
Ball State University’s Research Design Studio (RDS) has partnered with Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum (NASM) and the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) to engage teachers in the evaluation and integration of online museum content in K12 classrooms. As part of this initiative, we are inviting teachers to join our Professional Learning Network (PLN, an online PLC) with the following benefits and opportunities:
- Engage your students with high-quality, standards-aligned digital content from Smithsonian museums and other sources.
- Collaborate with researchers and other educators on evaluating and implementing online and blended learning.
- Strengthen your research and assessment skills with data literacy and assessment support.
- Get paid to evaluate digital content and to conduct surveys with your students and other teachers.
Current Studies. For a limited time, we can pay teachers to help evaluate the following projects:
The National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) is creating new materials to ensure students have access to culturally accurate and appropriate information examining the history and culture of Native Americans in the U.S.
With the National Air and Space Museum (NASM), we are evaluating teachers’ and students’ perceptions of program materials, learning resources, and field trip events. Specifically, live and online broadcasts from the Moving Beyond Earth exhibit engages learners in a wide variety of curriculum.
Other projects are forthcoming. At the exhibit and presentation, teachers will be asked to complete surveys and will be introduced to the PLN as a vehicle for continued professional development.
