Session Logistics: 11 Things to Know
The following things will help make this all work…
- Are you new to video conferencing and Zoom? Go here to learn how to get started with Zoom.
- Are you a presenter? If so, make sure you have read through the Festival instructions for presenters.
- Keep your Festival Ticket (that second email we’re sending you) with the conference Zoom information handy.
- Each presentation will have a “Connector” (i.e. Zoom session director) assigned to introduce the speaker and facilitate questions in the chat. Look for the person designated as “Connector” in the participation list to direct private chats about festival logistics, etc.
- All mics will be off by default. If there are a lot of people in the session, please use the Chat to ask questions and allow the docent to open up the session for open mic dialogue.
- If you lose your connection, Go to the Zoom site and reconnect with password provided in your Festival Ticket.
- Unless we (or you) encounter bandwidth limits, video is strongly encouraged per the spirit of the Festival. If you choose not to turn on your camera video for your own reasons, please try to provide a photo or characterization of you as your Zoom profile image.
- Please compose your video frame for productive eye contact. Humans like this.
- Use a headset or ear buds if you can. They reduce echo and feedback should you speak and they make everyone look equally cool. The full, over the ear headsets do wonders for quarantine hair.
- Stay for as many sessions as you can and stay for the duration of those you start if you can. Come back later if you have to leave for a bit. We have a full day planned! Keep your Festival Ticket handy.
- Be kind and nurture the healthy Connections we all seek.
