Motivation, Learning, and Emotion in the Digital Era

Purpose of the Study
The purpose of this research is to examine how college students’ academic and social motivation relate to their engagement in online and offline learning. In particular, we are interested in understanding how students collaborate with peers and use AI tools to support their learning.

This study is approved by BSU IRB (# FY2026-22).

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete.

Procedures
If you agree to participate, you will complete an online survey that includes:

  • Demographic questions
  • Questionnaires assessing academic and social motivation, learning strategies involving peers and AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT), and psychological well-being

Inclusion

  • Participants must be 18 to 24 years old
  • Undergraduate students attending BSU
  • Using AI tools such as ChatGPT for academic purposes

Exclusion

  • Participants younger than 18 or older than 24
  • Graduate students at BSU
  • Students not using AI tools such as ChatGPT for academic purposes

Note: If you choose this study AND wish to receive participation credit for your EDPS course, you must complete the full survey, not just the demographic questions.

Students who completed the full survey and signed up for the gift card will receive a confirmation email again from our team, which they may use as proof of participation if needed.
