SONAR is a research credit management system for Ball State Educational Psychology (EDPS) courses. All EDPS undergraduate course instructors are encouraged to require research participation of some kind in their courses. SONAR engages you in the research process and allows you to learn about educational psychology.
Typical research participation is one of two forms:
- Participating as a human subject in a current research study facilitated via the SONAR Research Participation System
- Writing a research review over an empirical article, facilitated via the SONAR Research Review Option.
Participating in a Research Study
- Click on the “Open Studies” tab.
- Review descriptions and inclusion criteria of the current research studies.
- Click the link to the online survey or follow the contact information listed to participate.
- Get confirmation of your participation. All studies listed in SONAR have been verified to provide a method for generating a confirmation of your participation that you can provide your instructor. That method, particularly if your participation is via an online survey, usually involves a question at the end of the survey that asks if you need a “receipt” for your participation. For researchers that choose the fully SONARed method, SONAR will generate a detailed report for you via email that you can forward to your instructor.
Writing a Research Review
- Review the Research Review Option and download the assignment description.
- Read an empirical research article and write a 1-page summary.
- Submit your Research Review.
- A SONAR team member will review your work and provide confirmation of completion to you and your instructor.
If you have any questions about the process of posting your study on SONAR, feel free to fill out our contact form or stop by the Research Design Studio in TC 512.
